Nicolai Tangen from Kristiansand, currently living in London, has donated his collection of modern art to his hometown Kristiansand. The collection will be placed in the silo in the Kulturkvartalet of Kanalbyen.
The collection consists of approximately 1000 pieces, with a value of 150 million NOK, is considered as the most important collection of Norwegian art from 1930 to 1970. This is an amazing gift to the town and a placement in Kanalbyen emphasizes that this a unique project. An open architectural competition will be conducted for the design of the Silo, together with the art and the culture-quarter (Kulturkvartalet) as a whole. As part-owner in Kanalbyen, JBU will participate in this work together with Kristiansand Port, Kristiansand Municipality and representatives for Nicolai Tangen.
